Hello @exlogger,

I did some research on the Thunderbird profile naming “default-release”, as when freshly installed it used to create a first initial profile “default”, now it creates “default-release”.
When updating version 60 to anything below 68.2.2, there were issues updating the existing profile and a new one was created instead. This probably lead to the situation that you have both “default” and “default-release” profiles.
(:globe_with_meridians:Thunderbird 68.2.2 release notes (see “fixes”)

So it seems an update created an “default-release” profile for you with your previous settings.
So far so good.
But the old profile “default” still exists in the background, but seems to be defective/invalid.
Since it is never used, Thunderbird has no problems with it, but MailStore Home is now detecting profiles and stumbling over it.

I cannot support Thunderbird officially and any advice comes wothout warranty.

You canot check existing profiles that easily in the user interface of Thunderbird,
however there is a quick shortcut to access the hidden profiles manager:

Press the key combination Win + R,
then type in
thunderbird.exe -profilemanager

Here you can see your profiles, modify them or even delete those not needed.
Cleaning up might help to get rid of defective profiles that are not used anymore anyway.
